Great baselayer, but can very well be worn on its own. Light enough to hike with on spring says, the zip helping regulate temperature. It's my second one. Very good addition to any sports lover's wardrobe!

This is a versatile shirt. It's a lighter weight so it can be layered but is also good on its own. The zip collar is good for both venting and keeping you warm. It's a fitted style so if you want to layer, size up. For reference I am 5' 8", 168 lbs, and the XL is just big enough to layer.
