My first Opinel

Pleasantly surprised at the sturdiness of the knife when in use. I thought the locking collar was a bit frail but it holds well under pressure and stress. I wouldn't do any batoning with it though.

Perfect knife and as it is a two handed open it's legal in many countries. Well made and the locking system works great.

Knife is okay, title listing is misleading.

This knife is kind of fun as a bit of a novelty with the wooden handle, but for the same price there are slimmer, lighter, better quality knives available. There is a small amount of "play" in the blade even with the locking mechanism engaged. I also find it strange that the product listing says "Walnut" but then you have to actually choose walnut...Read More

An amazing everyday knife

I bought this to go with my Opinel picnic set, but honestly it's become my everyday carry since I got it. Such nice indexing in the hand and a capable blade. Worth every penny.

Locking ring sticks

While these are nice knives, unfortunately on the one I received, you can't twist the metal ring very easily to lock and unlock the blade. Shipping time was extremely slow as well

SIMPLE, GREAT KNIFE

This is the the Third No. 8 blade Opinel knife I’ve purchased. Loved the walnut wood handle. The look and feel of walnut wood makes this knife a little more special over the beech handled version. I use mine for opening packages and deliveries, as well as for slicing fruit. The handle fits my hand well and blade lock spins easily.

Classic knife upgraded with a walnut handle. Stainless blades seem to arrive a bit less sharp than carbon ones, but take well to sharpening.

Features:
• Blade length: 8.5 cm

Sandvik stainless steel:

Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel. It is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chrome and requires no special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% gives excellent cutting edge.

Handle:

Beech is the most commonly used wood for the manufacture of Opinel handles. From France, our beech is hard, durable and easy to work. With a homogeneous appearance, its light color varies from yellow to pink. It is characterized by the presence of numerous small dark dashes.

Safety ring:

Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted to all folding knives from the N° 06. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).
