Near new again

At least once a year the gore tex stuff requires a refresh with this. Great for a quick application, easier than the spray and ideal for garments I’m more concerned about waterproofing over ventilation. I find this adds better waterproofing than the spray, the spray since it’s only the outer fabric tends to breathe better. Trade offs.

A must have for keeping your outdoor gear water repellent

Remember when you first bought the new tech jacket and the rain just pearled off the sleeves…and you thought, “this is the BEST jacket ever!” Then next Fall comes along and the jacket comes out of the closet and on the first rainy walk, the rain soaks in a bit. Easy to use, hand wash for less product waste at possible expense of results

I applied Nikwax tech wash + TX direct wash in following the instructions. 1 cap is 50ml I believe. I wish they indicated that literally… anywhere since they show that in their video instructions (doesn’t specify on the cap nor on the text instructions on the bottle…).

lean out my washer after applying, I hand washed in my bath tub. Not ideal, less soaking effect than a bucket - which would have been better but it worked nonetheless. I measured 6L of water roughly using an empty 4L jug I had lying around.

Rinsing was not so bad, I would squish out as much water as possible, let the waterfall rainshower head soak the fabric again, rinse and repeat a few times until the water was clear.

1- Applied Tech wash first with hot water, rinsed it out with warm water.
2- Immediately after, applied TX direct with hot water, squished water out and let it absorb and soak for 30 mins (changed sides 15 mins half way) then rinsed off with room temp water.
3- Got out as much water as I could then transferred it to my washing machine for a SPIN ONLY high cycle
4- Hang dry overnight

Tested it the next day, water beads off most spots - some areas the fabric is roughed up so it doesn't work well on those areas but it's way better than it was! On new well maintained shells, I feel this would work super great!

Only looked at the washing instructions AFTER using the product, mine said: machine wash cold, apply water repellency spray on only - oops, still worked fine, better than what it was, it's super old gear that needs to be replaced anyway. Read Less

Perfect to regain OEM waterproofing. Don’t forget to reactivate your shell after treatment. Ex: short dryer time for Gore Tex shell. Look the factory recommendations

My windbreaker is now waterproof

Works great on polyester/nylon. Tried on cotton, unsuccessful. You'll get 3-6 uses out of it. Smells like glue but the smell washes out for the most part.
