Arc’teryx does offer down filled parkas like the Therme, though underarms and cuffs are synthetic and designed for areas with moisture which makes total sense. Canada goose is just a bit obnoxious with their massive logo and over the top installation which is really not fit for purpose other than the arctic or extremely cold places like Canada or Minnesota. In terms of quality there is no definitive or objective way to test, and the only reason Canada goose charges more is because they are “trending” their appeal to urban yuppies. Has nothing to do with quality or manufacturing costs. I’ve had a mortgage jacket last me well over 10 years and it cost a fraction of either.
