super stylish and durable. works great as a layering piece or as a standalone. Beta AR with a down jacket underneath was my go-to winter setup. seems pricey at first but well worth the investment!

I purchased this to replace the same jacket that I’ve owned for over 10 years and it’s been used hard. This jacket has what I say is an upgrade in terms of hood cinches and overall hood fit. The original jacket is still going strong, but is now solely for backcountry trips. The blue looks great and am real happy with this purchase.

ork in a layering system for sport...which I assume from the description is the intended role of the Beta AR.
First of all, sizing. Compared to my other Arcteryx shells, this one runs a bit on the larger size, presumably for layering purposes...and it performs well in this regard. It seems to be built with the usual quality that the company is known for (my lighter models have lasted more than 4 years and show no signs of an early death).
I haven't put it through seriously wet conditions yet, but it handles regular rain and wind without any hiccups and helps insulate the mid-layers very well. Great looking jacket but sizing was tough. Large was a bit too big, I'm 5'9 and 190lbs and Arms were slightly too long, body was a bit wide at the waist. Medium was a near perfect fit but was slightly tight when wearing a sweater underneath. The collar and DropHood also make it hard to wear anything with a hood underneath.

Used this once walking in a snowstorm. I was perfectly dry and the wind was kept out as well. Good size as I was able to fit several layers underneath. Would definitely recommend this jacket.

I had an older Beta AR jacket that I had purchased in 2015, but decided to give the new updated version a try.
When I received it, I found it to be a better version with Arcteryx logo stitched instead of drawn in on to the fabric.

Tech in this jacket is second to none for the intended users. Coming from an older Patagonia Triolet the fit is slimmer especially around the hips if you are a little “thicker”.
