When it comes to building my wardrobe, I like to start with neutral tones and high-quality pieces. In a world where marketing and the fashion industry are trying to have us, I find it more important to select high-quality pieces.
I recently had the chance to try Icebreaker’s Waypoint Roll Neck Sweater for myself but I already knew the brand since my boyfriend had a few pieces from them. I packed my merino wool Icebreaker sweater to a weekend in the mountains where I was able to test it with multiple temperatures’ variations during the weekend.

I was impressed with how the Icebreaker sweater adapts with the temperature. What I mean by that is that it kept me warm when it was cooler. At the beginning of the day, it was much fresher before the sun could warm us up and I never felt that I needed an extra layer. The opposite also happened later that afternoon when it was much warmer outside with the sun and not to forget that was walked a lot and never felt that I needed to remove my sweater.
It keeps you cool when it’s hot and warm when it’s cold. It’s making merino the best piece to bring right?!
What I really liked as well, is since we were on a long weekend gateway, we didn’t stop to have our clothes washed, neither my merino sweater. I wore my sweater twice during the weekend and never felt that it needed a good wash. I didn’t have many warm pieces so it was nice to be able to wear it twice. I read that somehow, the antibacterial properties of the fabric destroy odours.
I really love the fully fashioned lifestyle look of the sweater although that it has a casual fit. The oversized super-cozy rolled neck makes it even more snuggly and perfect for cold-weather or frigid days. It’s not a piece that you want to look to fitted. I love that it has long sleeves and a generous length, which makes it look beautiful with leggings.
The reason why I prefer high-quality pieces besides the fact that they last longer, are way more comfortable and look great for a long time. It’s a splurge and an investment.
I also prefer natural fibres and materials because of their natural properties is because merino is super lightweight, soft, non-itchy, non-clammy, warm in the cold and cool in the heat, and has a miraculous ability to resist odour. It’s naturally renewable, recyclable and biodegradable.
I fell totally in love with Icebreaker’s company’s philosophy:
They explore the relationship between people and nature. It’s about kinship, not conquering. Nature is their hero.
I really love the fact that they also provide natural performance alternatives to synthetic-based apparel to create a healthier more sustainable future for our species and the planet.
Did you know: When clothes made from merino fibres wear out, they breakdown to replenish the earth. It’s a healthy ecosystem.
