The assumption may be that the 8 is stronger because biggest is best but is it? The 7 will have more teeth engaged per unit length of zip so would that make it stronger?

A male usually has the fly on the left and women’s are on the right which means a separated zipper needs to have the slider in the same side as the fly if it is to be easily operated. I have just received a coat with a fly on the opposite side to the slider and it is impossible to zip! If the coat does not have a fly I guess the slider CAN be on either side, but habit would suggest than men find right sided sliders more familiar to operate and women would find left sided slider more familiar.

Hello Dariusz, your best bet would be to try to contact wherever you purchased your jacket from.

I think they’re the smallest double slider YKK makes. Big parkas, tiny zippers. I almost feel like they could tear apart.

I have a problem with a two-way YKK zipper on my (brand-new) parka. There is no problem zipping it up, but when I attempt to unzip it from the bottom it typically gets caught on surrounding fabric within a couple of inches. I can get it open but it is time-consuming and I have to reach under the jacket, and so on. Do you have any advice for dealing with this problem(other than that in the “Zipper is Jammed” section above)?

I have two suggestions unrelated to my problem. The first is that when I first read the sentence, “One zipper manufacturer to look out for is the Riri Group.” I interpreted that as “Beware–avoid that brand!”. Later it became evident that is not what you meant. You may wish to do a small edit. Secondly, consider adding a bit of zipper history. When was it invented and by whom? What were its main uses initially? How quickly did its use grow, and so on.
