It doesn’t matter to me that my trail shoes will be covered in river water and trail dirt in the first 5 KM of a run, I want them to look good. When I snapped a photo of these shoes before heading out on a run and sent it to a group of friends who are runners, the resounding sentiment is that they are one sexy pair of trail runners. They have a sleek, minimalistic design which is perfect for long distance trail running.
I had the Purple Reign/Autumn Coral and I tested them out on my local trail system. I had recently raced so I was testing on tired legs so any issues with design or comfort would be quickly apparent with the shoes.
I tested them on a few different terrains ranging from concrete bridges to leaf littered hill climbs and technical downhills. On the harder surfaces, they readily absorbed the impact and I found that the mega grip Vibram soles were perfect for grabbing at the loose dirt on my climbs. They were lightweight and comfortable.
Features
These shoes have ergonomically patterned 3.5 mm square-shaped lugs and a Vibram MegaGrip rubber compound on the soles for assured traction. The mesh upper and toecap are made of lightweight materials and the shoes had stable supports which made it perfect for long-distance running. The shoe weighs in at 1,040 g and fits true to size.
Overall Opinion
In one run, they were covered in mud so the lighter colour way of the shoe may get soiled quickly, however, if that is a non-issue, they are a perfect trail shoe for runners who are looking to do long runs involving technical terrain.
