Specialty stove for groups
Review by Burton G. on 19 Jun 2023 review stating Specialty stove for groups
This is obviously not a backpacking stove and seriously - who needs a 35,000 BTU stove anyway ? Actually the answer is: not many people, but the stove does have its uses.
An average camping stove puts out about 10,000 BTUs which is enough for a 10 inch frying pan under most conditions. And it’ll boil a couple litres of water no problem. ...Read MoreRead more about This is obviously not a backpacking

But most camping stoves are designed around a 5 inch pot size and if you double the diameter you need four times the output - hence the 35,000 BTU output. The Gigapower Li is rated to handle 10 to 12 inch pots and 10 litres - that’s just over 2.5 GALLONS. So if you have a burning need to heat up large volumes of water for a large group for soup or washing up or whatever - this is the answer.
The other scenario is stir fry cooking. There you need to heat up oil to a high temperature and keep the oil and pan hotter than the food can cool it down. Restaurants typically use 30,000 BTU burners.
However …. this thing goes through gas pretty quickly so it’s a short term solution. For an extended day of cooking for a large group a charcoal BBQ might be a better option. Same heat output but lower fuel costs. Read LessRead less about This is obviously not a backpacking

Beautiful piece of gear
Review by Clew on 24 Apr 2023 review stating Beautiful piece of gear
Pricey but well built and powerful. Can’t wait to try it out on the next camping trip. This unit was purchased to be used along with the Jikaro firing table for a communal cooking experience for hot pot and grilling.

Fantastic stove for the IGT
Review by Neil B. on 2 Jun 2022 review stating Fantastic stove for the IGT
This is a pricey but fantastic stove for use with the IGT (if you grab the mounting frame) or as a standalone. The heat output is huge - well beyond most stoves. I wish it packed down even smaller but for what it is and how I use it it is great. Very high quality build which is what you’d expect from Snow Peak and this price range.
