It is beautifully made withe gorgeous black leather, stiff sole, lots of ankle support and a really neat feature on the tongue that keeps it from slipping to the side as on many other brands. Also, no heel slip so I was really excited about this boot working for me. Yet when I wore it around the house for several hours, there was a lot of pressure on my shins and the boots became too uncomfortable to wear for any extended period. This is too bad, as in any way that I could think, this would have been the ideal boot to use on extended backpacking trips with a 40 lbs pack. I had to return them. You should know that a lighter boot mean less material or less durable material used in its construction. I did not wear the boots long enough to comment on its durability, but compared to Camino GTX (also index 3) Vantage GTX has less robustness features (side rigidity, side protectors, sole quality, lacing hardware).
